| Food | Babs ~ Glasgow West Nile St

What do you do when you get a new hair cut…?

Head out for a Saturday lunch to celebrate it. That’s what!

Ciaran and I can finally say we have ticked Babs off our “Places that are a MUST try” list.

We have been so excited all week (the health kick being a contributing factor). And I would be lying if I said I wasn’t sat at work on Wednesday lunch time checking out the menu and dreaming of all my maybes and musts haves…

And it was definitely worth the wait!

Last month Ciaran and I decided to treat ourselves to a Sunday date night and as usual head to our current favourite restaurant… Six By Nico.

I’m a bit late in getting round to posting this! By the time my post is live they will no longer be serving this theme, but I thought why not share it anyways!

As per the food and service was fab!

So without further ado let me introduce you to the last Six By Nico theme…

So far out of all our visits this Menu is definitely my absolute favourite. I am the fussiest eater and as much as I’ve loved all the menus so far, there has always been just that one dish that has worried me. But not this time! Everything was just divine.

I also need to mention a special thanks to the girl a couple tables along from us for providing me with the fish course picture as I had completely forgotten to snap my pic! Strangely enough she  had approached me near the end of my meal to ask if I had a picture of a certain course to send her as she missed out that one, and later in the evening as I flicked through my pictures my “new friend” became handy! You couldn’t write it, the odds were random.

Next up in the Six By Nico Series is…

DISNEY!!

How exciting! I pray the music in the restaurant is to match! Because it sounds the dream!

Although this theme is timed perfectly for my other half and I’s 3rd year anniversary celebrations I am unsure if we will be making the trip. With the Festive Season approaching and schedules being jam packed, also my lack of love for the menu (not theme) its food for thought at the moment. We will just have to wait and see…

| Boozy Bits | Wine Cocktail

The first weekend in November my Other Half and I took a trip up to the North East of Scotland to visit his family.  It was a fun filled long weekend consisting of plenty walks, food and of course booze

While we were there my boyfriend put his cocktail making skills to the test. And he came up with a couple drinks to suit both mine and his aunties tastes.

His auntie is not much of a cocktail drinker as she only likes wine. But, this was just a fun little challenge for my partner as he rattled off a wine cocktail recipe he made up on the spot!

If you want a sneaky wee peek at what this contains and how to make, keep reading…

| Food | SixByNico ~ Illusion

My second foodie blog post. And this one, once again, is all about Six By Nico…

I know what you’re thinking, a bit of a reoccurring theme here, but honestly I cannot fault the place! It’s fine dining at such an affordable price. The atmosphere is perfect. The service is top class. And the work put behind each change in menu theme is ingenious.

This visit the theme is Illusion. Which as my boyfriends mum described, has a very Heston Blumenthal vibe to it.

For an extra £25 each we also added the wine flight which is perfectly matched to compliment each dish.

I’m not going to lie, I struggled to keep up! Which is why when the accompaniment to course 4/6 was a beer I happily passed this over to my other half!

Great night with great company!

I cannot recommend this place enough! If anyone is visiting or lives in Glasgow Six By Nico is a must. It is, understandably, pretty popular so booking well in advance goes without saying.

Have you tried Six By Nico yet? Which theme has been your favourite so far?”

| Food | Six By Nico…

Saturday 12th August

SIX BY NICO

Today we ventured out towards Finnieston to finally experience the greatness that is SIX BY NICO. This is not your regular restaurant with its seasonal menu, no, Six by Nico has a themed menu which lasts 6 weeks and is then gone and replaced with a completely new theme all over again! Fab, right?!

And we had the pleasure of trying ROUTE 66

CHICAGO

CRISP TART | TRAPANESE PESTO | GOATS CHEESE | OLIVE TAPENADE

CHICAGO

GREAT PLAINS

BUFFALO MOZZARELLA | TOMATO ESSENCE | BASIL OIL

2

AMERICAN DINER

CHICKPEA PANCAKE | MAPLE SYRUP MAYONNAISE | GUANCIALE

3

TEXAS

24 HOUR BARBECUE BRISKET | CHILLI BON BON | SWEETCORN PUREE

4

NEW MEXICO

SEA BREAM TACO | GUACAMOLE | PICKLED CHILLI | LIME

5

CALIFORNIA

LEMON TART | ORANGE ESPUMA | RED WINE SORBET

6

My favourite dish from the 6 course taster menu has got to be TEXAS, it tasted unreal. From the 24 hour barbecue brisket to the chilli bon bon there was nothing I could fault on the plate.

NEW MEXICO was my other half’s preferred dish. Being  made up of a combination of everything he loves most all in one dish it was a clear winner for him.

Super excited to find out the next theme for the menu, I’m sure we will be back!!
